Hopewell Junction - Vincent J. Logiudice, 89 years old, of Hopewell Junction, died peacefully on December 19, 2012 at the VA Hudson Valley Health Care System at Castle Point. He was born April 9, 1923 in Harrison, New York and was the son of the late John and Maria Rosace Logiudice.
Vincent was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during WW II from February, 1943 - November, 1945. He was wounded in action in Geilenkirshein, Germany on Nov. 22, 1944 and became a POW for six months until May 3, 1945. He was awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, Victory Medal, American Theater Medal and Good Conduct Medal. After being discharged from the service, he worked for many years in his family's landscaping business with his father and brothers and was an avid gardener. He then became a Postal Clerk for the US Post Office in Scarsdale, NY until his retirement.
He was a member of the 84th Infantry Rail Splitters Society; member Combat Infantry Association; member American Legion of Eastchester; member Eastchester VFW; member Hudson Valley American Ex-POW's. He was a volunteer for over twenty years at Castle Point and Montrose VA Hospitals.
Vincent was predeceased by his beloved wife, Sylvia in 1994. He is survived by his loving sons, Vincent Logiudice of Hopewell Junction and Kenneth Logiudice of Brunswick, GA; two sisters, Mary Wargo of Arkansas and Jayne Logiudice of Eastchester, NY; two brothers, Albert Logiudice of Eastchester and Richard Logiudice of FL; two grandchildren, Tiffany and Christopher Logiudice and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2013 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Robert H. Auchmoody Funeral Home, 1028 Main St., Fishkill. Funeral services and burial with full military honors will take place at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA at a later date.
