Wayne Delmar Jackson

Hopewell Junction - Wayne Delmar Jackson, 78 was called into the arms of Jesus on January 4, 2013 while surrounded by his family.

A 1953 Graduate of the Wappingers Central School, Wayne was born , raised and lived out his life in East Fishkill on the Shenandoah Farm, which he co-owned with his brother. The farm is a Century Farm and a Dairy of Distinction; honors that brought much notice to the community of Shenandoah. The farm is now associated with and ships their milk to Hudson Valley Fresh.

Wayne was an active member of the Dutchess County Cooperative Extension, the Farm Bureau, a board member of the Eastern A.I./Gen Ex, and Eastern Milk Producers.

He served on a committee for the Farmers Home Administration and was recognized for his participation as a committee member of the FSA with the Department of Agriculture. It was very evident of his involvement in agriculture how much he loved the animals and the land. In addition to the agricultural aspect of the farm, Wayne is the co-owner of the Shenandoah Gravel Corporation.

A life member of the Wiccopee Fire Company, Wayne volunteered for nearly 50 active years as a fire fighter and fire investigator. He served as secretary of the East Fishkill Fire Investigation Unit. Wayne was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church of Shenandoah. In his early years he participated in local dart ball leagues. He loved local history, passing along much historical knowledge regarding farming heritage in and around his community documenting it with photographs. He collected books and models of tractors especially linked to the farming history.

Married for 53 years to Loretta McIntosh Jackson, Wayne is survived by his three children Deborah West and her husband John of Hopewell, Nancy Nally and her husband Chris of Schoharie, and Delmar Jackson and his wife Debbie of Stormville. He is also survived by his brother Verne and his sister Dorthea, 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Monday January 7, 2013 from 5-9p at Robert H. Auchmoody Funeral Home 1028 Main St, Fishkill. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday January 8, 2013 at 10am at Bethel Baptist Church of Shenandoah 511 Shenandoah Road, Hopewell Junction. Interment to follow in Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
