Frank Gonzales Jr.

Poughkeepsie - Frank Gonzales Jr., 77, a local resident for thirty-five years, died Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at Vassar Bros. Medical Center.

Born in Somers, NY on February 9, 1935, he was the son of the late Frank Gonzales Sr. and Phoebe Barrett Gonzales. He was a graduate of Yorktown Central High School #2.

Frank was a Lab Technician at IBM in East Fishkill for more than 30 years, retiring in 1990. He also worked part-time at Adams Fairacre Farms in Poughkeepsie for more than 30 years.

He enjoyed his participation with the Mid-Hudson Rivermen Drum & Bugle Corps., enjoyed dancing, especially instruction with Lyudmila and Yevgeniy Yermolayev, and rooting for his favorite New York Football Giants.

Mr. Gonzales proudly served in the United States Army.

On November 9, 1958 in Croton Falls, NY, he married Kathleen White. Mrs. Gonzales predeceased him on April 8, 1989.

Survivors include his son, Steven Gonzales of Poughkeepsie; daughter, Debra Gonzales of Milton; five grandchildren, Leena and Nicolette Gonzales, Brian Avery, William Avery III, and Amanda Avery; four great-grandchildren, Madaline and Hanna Avery, Matthew Shultis, and Jordan Avery.

He is also survived by his longtime companion, Joan Eisenhut of Pleasant Valley, with whom he traveled extensively.

Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 pm, Monday, January 28th at Sweet's Funeral Home, Rte. 9, Hyde Park.

Funeral services with military honors will be at 10 am, Tuesday, January 29th in the Chapel of the Community Mausoleum at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
