Margaret J. Bartlett

POUGHKEEPSIE - Margaret J. Bartlett, 91 of Poughkeepsie, passed away on February 6, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital. She was born on May 27, 1921 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Frank & Cora Reese Johnson. Margaret graduated from Moravian College for Women with a BA in 1943 and the graduated from Drexel University with a BA in Library Science. She married Lynn C. Bartlett in June of 1946 at the Lehigh University Chapel. He survives at home. Margaret came to the area in 1952 having lived previously in Cambridge, Massachusetts and Oxford, England. She was employed as a Librarian at Harvard Law School, Harvard Museum of Comparative Zoology, Vassar Library and finally at the Franciscan Friary of Mt. Alvernia in Wappingers Falls, NY. Margaret was a long time member of the Mid-Hudson Valley Food and Wine Society, Poughkeepsie Social Reading Club and the Sherlock Holmes Society. She loved literature, art and travel. Her travels took her throughout the world with Lynn. Survivors include her daughter: Anne Bartlett of Silver Spring, Maryland; sister: Ethlyn Anderson of Broomall, Pa. and a niece Lynn Panza of Springfield, Pa. She was pre-deceased by her infant son: Jeremy. There are no calling hours. A private graveside service will be held in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date.
