Rudolph Michael Grotzer

Town of Clinton NY - Rudolph Michael Grotzer Father, Grandfather, Friend …Passed away peacefully Tuesday January 22, 2013 at Saint Francis Hospital following a long illness, he was 77.

Rudy was born on June 16, 1935 to Charlotte (Sturm) and Josef Franz Grotzer. He attended Millbrook High School and The University of New Paltz. Rudy began his professional career of 25 years with IBM in Poughkeepsie, New York. After his transfer to IBM in Kingston, he found his most satisfying position within Management Development. Here he facilitated discussions and experiential exercises, designed to enhance personal and interpersonal potential, through skills and awareness. Rudy had a lifelong interest in human behavior. He was compelled by the possibilities for growth within himself and inspiring others.

He is survived by his beloved Children, Father to Erika Sturm (Tom Hoff) of Maple Crest, NY; Heidi (David Spivak) Weston, Ct; Tina (David Freeman) of Lincoln MA; Curt (Jackie Metrogen) Destin, FL; Michael of Schenectady, NY; Christopher of Poughkeepsie, NY; Jeffery Wowaka of Poughkeepsie, NY; and Daniel Wowaka of Kingston, NY; Grandfather to six, Tyler, Conor, Annaleise, Slater, Liv and Mike, Great -Grandfather to one, Peyton.

Rudy will always be remembered for his witty sense of humor, graceful intellect and the uncanny ability to break out into song at just the appropriate time. He had a love of gardening, healthy foods and living. But his true love was of the water and sailing …which is where he whispered he was going as he said good bye…. love you Dad, in our hearts you will stay...

Memorial services will be Monday, February 18th, 10 AM, at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church, Old Post Road & East Elm Ave. Staatsburg.
