Amenia, NY - Jason F. Whaley, "The Whale", 37, a lifelong area resident, died on Friday, February 15, 2013 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY. Jason worked as a roll-off truck driver for Welsh Sanitation in Amenia, NY.

Born on February 8, 1976 in Sharon, CT he is the son of Mary Lou Whaley who survives in Sharon, CT. Jason attended Dover schools and was a member of the Chestnut Ridge Rod and Gun Club in Dover Plains. He was a past lieutenant of the J. H. Ketcham Hose Company in Dover Plains, NY, a life member and assistant chief of the Wassaic Fire Company in Wassaic, NY, a member of the Hudson Valley Firemen's Association and the Exempt Firemen's Association in Poughkeepsie, NY. He was also a member of the Royal Order of the Red Vest.

Besides his mother, he is survived by his former wife, Holly Colgan Whaley of Dover Plains, NY; a daughter, Reagan Whaley of Dover Plains, NY; maternal grandfather, Charles Whaley of Sharon, CT; two brothers, William Yeno IV of Dover Plains, NY and Edward John Yeno of Hyde Park, NY; a sister, Michelle Rosco of Flordia; two aunts, Charlene Carlson of Iowa and Shirley Yeno of Millerton, NY and two cousins, Richard Yeno of Dover Plains, NY, and Kristi Lynn Kilmer of Millerton, NY. He is also survived by a goddaughter, Danielle Yeno and cousins, Chelsea Yeno and Kaitlyn and Nate Kilmer and many friends. He was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Frances Jane Whaley.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. Firematic services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Dover Plains, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to his daughter Reagan's educational fund and may be sent to Salisbury Bank P.O. box 693, Dover Plains NY, 12522.
