Florence Humes Obituary
POUGHKEEPSIE - Florence J. Humes of Poughkeepsie entered into rest on Thursday, February 14 at home surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of the late Harry K. Freeman Sr. and Florence A. Stevenson. She was born February 13, 1934 in the Town of Wappingers Falls. She was 79 years old.
Florence was a retired employee at Vassar College, with 25 years of service. She was the widow of the late McKinley Humes Sr. Florence is survived by her loving brothers: Leroy, Robert, Larry, Richard, Donald and Allen Freeman; her loving sisters: Emma Freeman-Ennist and Shirley Freeman-Woods; loving sons: McKinley Jr., Mark, and Kenneth Humes; loving daughters: Teresa Humes, Kim Humes-Dicker and Shawa Humes; son-in-law, Lashaveous (Pocket) Dicker; brothers-in-law: Ralph T. Dixon, George Ennist, Paul Toles and Wayne Woods; her loving sisters-in-law, Barbara, Sheila, Pauline, Linda and Annie Freeman; her loving grandchildren, Jechonna Smith, Latasha Lewis, Portia Myers, Marika Sprow, Marquis Fisher, Lashaya & Tashana Dicker, Kinyel, Kenya & McKinley Humes, Dorothea Ross, Sharika Denny, Makia, Sheena Elmendorf, Xavier, Alliyah, Jeanine Humes, Austin Woods and Brandon Humes; her loving nieces, nephews and great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, brothers, Raymond and Harry Freeman Jr.; sisters, Ida Freeman-Toles and Barbara Jean Dixon and sister-in-law Mary Freeman.
Mrs. Florence will lie in repose 10-11am Friday, February 22 at Beth-El C.O.G.I.C., 91 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie. Services 11am at the church. The pastor, Elder Dwight Hunt will officiate. Interment at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, Poughkeepsie. Professional services entrusted to Rhodes Funeral Homes, 43 Fairview Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. "Committed To Being The Very Best".
