Marianne B. Wolff

Poughkeepsie - Marianne B. Wolff, 93, residing at The Fountains in Millbrook, N.Y. since 1998, formerly of Red Oaks Mill died on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. Born in Germany on May 21, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Anna Sommerfeld Ronneburger.

On October 21, 1939 at a service in Osterburg, Germany, Marianne married Dr. Hermann P. Wolff. In 1946, Marianne, her husband and children were forcibly abducted to Russia where they had to stay for 7 years. After that, they were sent to Communist East Germany and then escaped to West Germany in 1953. Finally, in 1955, Marianne and her family went on to the USA where her husband made his career with IBM. On January 12, 2008, her husband Hermann passed away. Marianne was a longtime active member of the First Lutheran Church of Poughkeepsie where she also assisted her husband with the Lunch and Listen Program at the church. She also volunteered in and around the community. She loved gardening, nature and taking walks in the country. As a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Marianne took great pride in the old traditions of family, love and home. She will be missed by all. Survivors include her son Heiner Wolff and his wife Nancy of Hyde Park, N.Y., her daughter Heide Rehn and her husband Ulrich of Germany, four grandchildren, Lisa Detharding and her husband Steve of Germany, Mark Schlender and his wife Christine of Germany, Marissa O'Brien and her husband Thomas of Gardiner, N.Y., Aaron Wolff and his wife Michelle of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., six great grandchildren, Daniel, Tara and Nora Detharding, Anna and Thomas O'Brien and Wesley Wolff. In addition to her husband she is predeceased by her brother Kurt Ronneburger.

Calling hours will be held Monday, April 29, from 5PM to 8PM at the Parmele, Auchmoody & Schoonmaker Funeral Home 110 Fulton Ave., Poughkeepsie. Funeral services will be held 10AM Tuesday, April 30 at First Lutheran Church of Poughkeepsie 325 Mill Street
