Lydia Ambrogio Fish

Port Jervis, NY - Lydia Ambrogio Fish, age 82, of Port Jervis, formerly of Cold Spring, passed into God's arms on January 12, 2015. Born on May 21, 1932 in Queens, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Carmella (Lopresti) Ambrogio.

Lydia retired as a NY State Corrections Officer and after her retirement went on to graduate from Mt. St. Mary's College, Newburgh, where she was also editor of the college newspaper. She later went on to become the assistant editor of The New Windsor Sentinel and was active in her community. Mrs. Fish was the wife and widower of the late-great Congressman Hamilton Fish, Sr.

Survivors include her four children Karen Kearney Bailey of Pine Bush, John B. Kearney of Briscoe Lake, Mark Kearney Gleason of CA and Steven Gleason of Montgomery; one sister Theresa O'Neil of Las Vegas, NV. Thirteen grand children and nine great grand children also survive. Pre deceasing her was a daughter Jennifer Kearney-Beykirch.

Funeral services will take place at St. Philip's Church in the Highlands, 1101 Route 9D, Garrison, NY 10524, on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 1PM. The Rev. Francis Geer will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Philips Cemetery, Garrison. At the request of the family there will be no public visitation.

Funeral arrangements are in the care of the Clinton Funeral Home, Cold Spring, NY. 845 265-3333.

She was a family friend. She came to visit with my Mom but would teach us about the Moon and the Stars. We nicknamed her "Moon Lady" when she stopped over one day wearing a shirt with the Moon and stars on it. We loved to listen to her as children. I would think of her often. So sorry to hear of her passing. Rest in Peace Lydia.
