Kenneth Scherer Obituary

Kenny Scherer went to heaven with his maker on May 25, 2011, full of peace and love after a short time with brain cancer. He had the remarkable blessing of being able to say "I love you" and "Goodbye" to everyone he cared about during his last two months on earth. Born in Waco, TX, on August 10, 1959, Kenny was the youngest of five children. He attended what is now called Texas State University, and then started his passion for entrepreneurship as a mall contractor in Cleveland, Ohio. Desiring a "cerebral challenge", Kenny walked away from a promising job offer to attend law school in San Diego, CA, at California Western School of Law. After graduation, he met the love of his life Heather, whom he married in 1994. As a team, they created a successful travel agency, found success in business brokerage, and raised five beautiful children. Kenny's essence centered on living life to the fullest and surprising everyone with his unique sense of humor and spontaneity. His zest for life brimmed with constant ideas, creations, and dreams for his family and his business. After speaking to his hospice chaplain, he successfully met his final goals in life to express and accept love, provide and receive forgiveness and offer peace to everyone around him. His words and actions touched many, and left a beautiful legacy for his wife and children on how to "let go and say goodbye" with grace, strength, and dignity. The way he adoringly gazed at his "light", Heather; the joy he expressed in his children, Kirstyn (24), son-in-law Travis (29), Jake (16), Emma (8), Luke (8), and Lia (4); and his strong presence full of laughter and surprises with his friends and family will be greatly missed. He joins his father, Karl, and his brother, Greg, in watching over a family and a community that will always carry a piece of his strong spirit in their heart.
The memorial service is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, June 4, 2011, at 11 am at The Church of Rancho Bernardo.
Memorials may be sent to: The Church of Rancho Bernardo, 11740 Bernardo Plaza Court, San Diego, CA 92128, or to The Elizabeth Hospice, 150 West Crest St., Escondido, CA 92025.

We were deeply saddened and shocked to hear of Ken's death.

Our son Evan played baseball and basketball with Jake and we remember Ken as a very devoted and loving father.

Our heart-felt condolences go out to Ken's Mom, Heather, Jake and the Scherer family.

With the few but memorable experiences i had with Mr. Scherer and his family were some i would never forget. Mr. Scherer's personality was a infectious energy of fun(not to mention sarcasm). Instantly i felt welcome in his home. His fun and loving charisma will forever be impressed in my heart, and so will the fun experiences i was blessed to have shared with him and his family.
