Todd Plath Obituary
Visitation will be held Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 pm at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City. Funeral Services will be Monday at 2:00 pm at First United Methodist Church, 214 E. Jefferson Street in Iowa City. Reverend Paul Akin will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Todd M. Plath Memorial Fund or an education fund to be established for Mike & Mark Plath.
Todd was born August 29, 1962 in Iowa City, the son of Tom and Jan (Houser) Plath.
He graduated from Iowa City High School in1980. Todd married Debra Anderson on June 9, 1984 in Iowa City. He worked for General Pest Control from 1985-1988. Todd owned and operated Iowa City Gutter from 1989-2007. He then became certified as a Home Inspector in 1997. Todd recently passed the state of Iowa exam for Radon Measurement.
From 1994 to present, he enjoyed remodeling and managing his rental properties. He made many good friends this way. In 1999, he accomplished his dream of buying a farm. In 2000, he and his family built a new home and moved to the farm. Todd enjoyed the outdoors, raising livestock and managing crops. The farm brought him much happiness. The largest source of enjoyment for Todd was following his sons through all of their activities.
Survivors include his wife Debbie; his sons, Mike Plath & Mark Plath, all of Iowa City; brother, Randy (Debbie) Plath of Phoenix, Arizona, sister, Pam (Kirk) Emerson of Iowa City; his parents, Tom and Jan Plath of Iowa City; his mother and father in law, Duane and Catherine Anderson of Las Vegas; brothers in law, Jack (Kim) Anderson of Riverside, Iowa and Scott (Tammi) Anderson of Iowa City, sister in law, Jill (Steve) Skay of West Liberty; nieces and nephews, Danielle Strank, Shanna Dill, Cody Plath, Stacey Duinick, Tanya Toll, Nicholas Anderson, Angela Poggenpohl, Mallory and McKenzie Anderson and Jessica, Amanda and Shana Skay.
Todd was preceded in death by his grandparents.
