Ezechiel Cohen

Ezechiel G. D. Cohen, 94, died peacefully Sunday, September 24th at Bickford Cottage.

Family Services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (USHAMM), Midwest Regional Office, Box 1852, Highland Park, Illinois 60035.

Dr. Cohen, better known to friends as Eddie, was born January 16, 1923 in Amsterdam, the son of David and Sophia Louisa De Sterke Cohen. He married Marina Linnekamp on April 19, 1950.

In 2015, he moved to Iowa City from New York City. He was Professor Emeritus in the department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Iowa. He was a Professor Emeritus at Rockefeller University in New York City.

Survivors include two children, Andrea Cohen of Iowa City and Michael Cohen of Winston-Salem, NC; four grandchildren, Alyssa of New York City, Rianna of Winston- Salem, Isabella of Corvallis, OR and Jim of Iowa City; his brother Carel of Amsterdam.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
