Margaret Clancey Obituary

Margaret Ann Clancey, 66

Margaret Ann (Maggie) Clancey went to her eternal Heavenly Home on October 2, 2017, after a brief illness. She was able to celebrate her 66th birthday on September 22nd, enjoying purple cake, colorful decorations, and the good company of her family and close friends. Maggie was born in 1951 and was raised in Leeds, a community of northeast Sioux City, Iowa, but lived most of her adult life in Iowa City. She was employed by the University Of Iowa Hospital where she was a certified nursing assistant for over 30 years. Coworkers described Maggie as a person with a heart of gold and a smile that would light up a room.

Maggie was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Dreves Clancey and her father, Douglas Alexander Clancey, as well as paternal grandmother Clarabel Lachnit Clancey, paternal grandfather Eugene Clancey, maternal grandmother Vivian Rosenberry Dreves, and maternal grandfather Frederick Dreves.

Maggie was the second eldest child in a family of eight. Surviving siblings are Marty and Connie (Lehman) Clancey of Cedar Rapids, IA (Jennifer, Andrew), Connie (Clancey)and Gary Bennett of Muscatine, IA(Josh and Connie, Doug and Erin, Sam and Leslie), Doug and Mish (Doran) Clancey (Kelly and Rene Rivera, Sean Stolz) of Mead, CO, Donna (Clancey)and Earl Brown (Marie) of Roland, IA, Mike Clancey of Fairmont, MN (Doug, Melissa and Alex, Michelle and Matthew, Marissa and Justin , Clara (Clancey) and Keith Lohse(Elizabeth, Alexander) of Camden, NC, and Fred and Jolynn (Kelly) Clancey (Samantha, John and Nikki) of DeForest, WI. Great nephews and nieces include Dante, Janessa, Sierra, Ella, Brook, Briar, and Mallory. Maggie is also survived by John and Elizabeth (Estill) Dreves of Knoxville, TN, Myrna Ward of Ft. Mitchell, KY, and many cousins on both the Dreves and Clancey sides.

Maggie enjoyed a wonderful career at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics and she made many friends. On behalf of the family, we would like to thank the doctors, nurses, staff, and especially Maggie's dear friends and coworkers for all of their support and prayers during her last few weeks she had to spend with us. Their love and kindness meant so much to our family. Thank you!

The Clancey family will plan a memorial service at a later date.
