Schmidt, Irene J. Irene J. Schmidt, 97, of Endicott passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter Martha (Marty) on July 17, 2015. She is predeceased by her husband James B. Schmidt; parents John and Julia Duffek; siblings Alex Duffek, John Duffek, Mildred Murtha, Alice Dean, and Eleanor Belchak. She is survived by her loving and devoted daughter Marty Schmidt; adopted daughter Mary Jean Williams; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 from 5 to 7pm at the THOMAS J. SHEA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 137 Robinson St. Binghamton, NY. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday at 10am at St. Paul's Church, Binghamton. Entombment will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Lourdes Hospice, 4102 Old Vestal Road, Vestal, NY 13850.

Scott, Sheryl A. Sheryl A. Scott, 59, of Vestal, died after a brief illness on Saturday, July 18, 2015. She was predeceased by her husband, Leland M. Scott Jr.; son, Charles Scott. She is survived by her loving family; sons, Leland M. Scott Jr., James Scott and Garrison Scott; two grandchildren; several siblings, nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 24, 2015 at 4pm at Spring Forest Cemetery.

Smales, Robert W.  
Smales, Robert W. Robert W. Smales, 87 of Hawleyton, died peacefully at home Saturday, July 25, 2015 after a long battle with cancer which he fought with courage and grace. Rob was proud to have served his country in the Korean War. He was a member of the Hawleyton United Methodist Church. He was predeceased by his sisters, Janice Reynolds, Marcia Eldred and Caroline Orton. Rob is survived by his wife, Karen; children, Mary and Glenn Gilda, Binghamton, Rachel and Howie Matza, Suffern, NY and Joel and Athena Smales, Kirkwood; seven grandchildren; and a large extended family. Rob's family wishes to thank Dr. Andras Szabo, Dr. David Steinmetz and Lourdes Hospice for the wonderful care they gave Rob. And be renewed in the spirit of your mind. And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Smas, Stephen Earley  
Smas, Stephen Earley Stephen Earley Smas, 72, passed July 26, 2015. Steve was born in Grassmere, NH on Dec. 18, 1942 to Barbara and Stephen Smas. After high school, he joined the U S Air Force where he was an Airman 2nd class repairing jet engines. He married Sue Wargo and they raised three sons, Steven (Jenniffer) Smas, Haverhill NH., Scott (Jodi) Smas, Tempe AZ, and Sean (Megan) Smas, Piermont NH. Steve started his postal career in Freehold NJ in 1974. He then relocated to NH where he eventually was appointed the Postmaster of Monroe NH. As a postal employee, he started many stamp clubs for children, plus he became a numismatist. He also enjoyed "tinkering" with his 1939 Ford tractors, restoring them to peak performance. About five years after his wife passed away, he met and married Joan Koon and moved to Johnson City NY. Steve and Joan loved to travel and garden. Steve is survived by Joan; his brother, Sherrill (Bonnie) Smas, Blacksbury VA; his three sons and their wives, and his step-family, Mark (Wendy) Kosalek, Judi Comstock, Cris Ann (Mathew) Tryniski, and Kim Kosalek; plus his grandchildren, Katharine, Rebacca, Trevor, Connor; his step-grandchildren, Cody, Jackie, Liz, Tom, Brian, Eric, Conor, Megan, Ben, Maggie; and one great-grandchild, Naya Lyn. Steve has said, "I had a good run. Keep joy in your heart and make life easier for each other every day." The family thanks Lourdes Hospice for their caring compassion. A Celebration of Life will be held at his home at 12 noon on August 8, 2015. Those who wish to send remembrances may consider a memorial contribution to the Society for the Promotion of Education in Animal Kindness (SPEAK), 351 Flint Rd. Binghamton NY 13905.

Smith, Wesley Raymond  
Smith, Wesley Raymond Wesley Raymond Smith, 65, a resident of Chenango Bridge, passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack on Feb, 21st 2015. Wesley was born on August 30, 1949 To Henry and Evelyn Smith in Binghamton, NY. Wesley graduated from Chenango Valley high school and went on to attended both Broome Community College and Mohawk Valley Community College where he studied liberal Arts/Architecture. After leaving College, Wesley served in the Air Force Reserves from which he received an honorable discharge. Wesley was self-employed and over the years owned a small residential construction (Deck Hands Construction) company and Trucking company (W.R. Smith transportation).The most recent of the two was the trucking company where he operated two trucks and did the majority of his work in Pennsylvania, New York, and Massachusetts. He loved being on the road and putting in long days. Wes was no stranger to putting in long days on the road where he would sometimes travel 3600-4000 miles per week. Wesley is survived by his son Jesse and two brothers David, Jimmy, and a soon to be granddaughter. Memorial services will be held at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Chenango Bridge at 7pm on July 24th.

Snell, Troy A. Troy A. Snell, 30 of Endicott, passed away tragically, Sunday July 12, 2015. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Sherry Rought, Robert F. and Lena O'Hara. He is survived by his mother, Tammy Snell O'Hara (Scott Mitchell); his father, Emile O'Hara; three children, Justen Powell, Alyssa and Taylor Snell; his sister, Amber (Chris) Pinney; his brother, Robert (Amanda) O'Hara; his grandfather, David Rought; his girlfriend, Jessica Frink and her children, Cameron Pinney and Brayden O'Neil; also several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Troy had a passion for riding dirt bikes and was an employee of Applebees, Vestal. Troy's family will receive friends at the Leon Pucedo Funeral Home, Inc. 1905 Watson Blvd. Endicott, NY on Sunday from 2 to 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his memory to his children.

Stabler, Thomas Edward Thomas Edward Stabler, 79, of Whitney Point, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2015 at his home. He was predeceased by his wife, Sarah Ann Stabler on October 24, 2014 and by his parents, Donald and Katherine. Thomas is survived by children, Sarah and Wayne Elstrom, South Carolina, Yolanda Stabler, Whitney Point, Thomas D. Stabler and Debra Gioa, Binghamton, James A and Julie Stabler, Castle Creek, Betty Merenz and Kevin Wigfall, Cortland, Penelope C. Stabler, Whitney Point and Thomas J. Stabler, Whitney Point; 5 grand children, Bryan, Jonathan, Amanda, Allison and Gracie; great-granddaughter, Genesis. Thomas served his country during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Army and in the U.S. Air Force. He served in Korea, France and in Greenland. He was a retired rural mail carrier. Graveside services with full military honors will be held 10am Friday at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Whitney Point.
