Andrew J. Kavulich, 93, of Johnson City died peacefully on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at the NYS Veterans Home in Oxford, NY. Andy was born in Taylor, PA and graduated from Taylor High School. He served in the Army Air Corp during World War II. He was a member of The Church of the Holy Trinity and its Holy Name Society. He was an active local community leader and served as a Johnson City Trustee from 1961-1964. He was also a Post Commander of the Johnson City American Legion and was a founding member of the Guidestep Sportsmen Club. He was employed as a foremen at Endicott Johnson and later as a License Pump Operator for the Johnson City Water Department. Andy enjoyed playing sports, hunting, fishing, playing cards with his friends and family and casino trips with his wife and church buddies. He was predeceased by his parents, Barbara Belensky Kavulich and Paul Kavulich; his loving wife of 60 years, Margaret (Marge) Keppick Kavulich in 2000; sisters, Anne Price and Betty Rogo and half sister, Elsie Lewis; brothers, Joseph, John and Paul and half brother, John Zarnocky. He is survived by a daughter, Barbara Lynch Pilkington (Jerry); sons, Ronald (Ann), Andrew (Linda), and Robert (Sherry); granddaughters, Kristen Kavulich Riesenberger (Jim), Stacy Kavulich Maus (Steve); grandsons, Greg, Andrew (Kim), Brett, Scott, and Matthew Kavulich; and eight great grandchildren, James, Brayden, and Alanna Riesenberger, Jerrad, Taylor, John Maus, Renee and Natalie Kavulich. The family would like to express appreciation to the wonderful staff of the Oxford Veterans Home, for their kind and gentle care giving. Funeral Services will be held at the J.F. Rice Funeral Home, Inc., 150 Main Street, Johnson City Monday, October 14, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. at The Church of the Holy Trinity, 346 Prospect Street, Binghamton, where a Funeral Mass will be offered. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City.
