Endwell: Michael "Mikey" Hritcko, age 86 of Endwell, NY our beloved husband, father, grandfather (great) and brother entered the gates of Heaven on May 16, 2013 with his family by his side after a seven year battle with cancer. Survived by his loving wife, Helen of 59 years; also survived are his children, Gregory (Peggy) Hritcko & their children, Clarissa (Stephen) Gates, & Katelyn Hritcko; daughter Darceia (Tim) Springer, & their children, Brandy Springer (Chris) & their son Evan, & Tyler (Alynn) Springer; son Michael John Hritcko, Christopher (Lisa) Hritcko & their children, Kyle, Griffin Hritcko. Out of 11 siblings, Michael is survived by sisters, Sue Thacik, Elaine (Curly) Wilson, Dorothy Gerrick. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and great nieces and nephews. Michael was predeceased by his parents, George (Ann) Hritcko; and brothers, John, George and Joey; sisters, Helen, Mary, Ann and Margaret. Michael was a member of St. Michael's Greek Orthodox Catholic Church Binghamton. As part of the greatest generation he was a World War II
Veteran who proudly served with the 71st Division, 14th Infantry Regiment. His military exprience took him all over Germany and culminated with being part of the historic Nuremberg Trials. Michael worked and retired from IBM. We will always remember him putting family, friends and life experiences above material wealth. He would talk and lend a hand to whoever would ask and his handy work was priceless. We are priviledged to have had him as a mentor and beautiful example of how to live life. He will be greatly missed. Funeral Services will be held at the J.F. Rice Funeral Home, Inc., 150 Main Street, Johnson City Tuesday at 8:45 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. at St. Michael's Greek Orthodox Catholic Church, Binghamton where a Divine Liturgy will be celebrated by the Very Rev. Protopresbyter James Dutko. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Town of Dickinson, NY. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make memorial contributions to St. Michael's Capital Fund in Michael Hritcko's memory.
