Hansen, Ralph H.
Johnson City: passed away peacefully at Wilson Memorial Hospital on December 25th, 2012. He was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Ralph E. Hansen and Stella Heroy Hansen. He is predeceased by his brothers, Robert Hansen and Joseph Dawes. He is survived by his brother, Dale Hansen (Joyce) of New York, NY; his loving wife of 50 years, Beverly (Hawe) Hansen; his children: Ralph E. Hansen (Shelly) of Hamden, CT; Margo Undercoffer (Phillip) of Binghamton, NY; Robert Hansen (Stefanie) of Ivoryton CT; Richard Hansen (Carly) of Locke NY; and Theodore Hansen (Tammy), of Brooktondale, NY. He is also survived by many grandchildren: Christopher and Ana Undercoffer; Julia and Isabelle Hansen; Owen, Jude and Rhys Hansen; Liam and Cecily Hansen as well as several nieces and nephews. Ralph earned a Bachelor's Degree from Colgate University and a Juris Doctorate from Albany Law School. Ralph's 87 years was a life well lived. He was a true Christian who practiced his faith in every aspect of his life: As a young soldier with the 87th Infantry, Headquarter Division, during World War II; As an educator, teaching Social Studies to 8th graders in the fifties, and Economics to college students during the sixties; As a father guiding his five children to be productive adults and caring parents; As an attorney and judge, practicing with utmost professionalism and integrity; As a citizen serving as Town Justice and as a board member for Town of Union; And as chairman of the Johnson City YMCA, chairman of Johnson City Cub pack 100, merit badge counselor for Troop 110, and active member of Johnson City Rotary Club
. Until the onset of his final illness, Ralph was an active member of Sarah Jane Johnson United Methodist Church, where he served as Coordinator of Christian Education and enjoyed many years directing Christmas plays performed by the Church youth. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday January 3rd, 2013 at 11am at the Barber Memorial Home Inc, 428 Main Street, Johnson City. His pastor the Rev. Hyun Joon Kim will officiate. Burial will be in Riverhurst Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6-8pm at the Barber Memorial Home, Inc.
