Robert Haskell Obituary

Haskell, Robert E.

Vestal: Bob Haskell passed over peacefully to heaven on August 16, 2013 after a brief illness. He lived in Vestal all his life and graduated with the Vestal High School Class of 1953. He went on to take many professional classes and was an astute student of life. He had a successful 15 year career with IBM before founding Haskell Associates in Real Estate. Haskell Associates was a premier company for 30 years that launched the careers of many of the area's prominent Realtors. He had a strong faith in the Lord and was a member of New Life Ministries in Endicott. He loved nature, being outdoors, gardening, boating, music, playing cards with friends and was an accomplished dancer. He built several houses and also renovated the landmark Lighthouse at the corner of Nanticoke and Main in Union, turning an abandoned gas station into a modern office. He restored the historic Gaige House on Binghamton's south side and the Grange Hall on Hawthorne Street in Vestal, which was the family's residence for some years. His last project was building a cottage on Owasco Lake. Bob was predeceased by his mother, Viola Haskell; his father Robert D. Haskell and his sister, Beverly. He is survived by his daughter, Laurie Haskell of Vestal; son, Rob (Rene) Haskell and their children, Robert, Christian, and William; son, Jesse (Brenda) Haskell of St. Mary's, Georgia, Jesse's son, Taylor Haskell; nephews, James (Debbie) Blakeney, Kevin Blakeney and niece, Jill Blakeney; and many special friends. Funeral and Interment Services will be held Thursday at 11 AM from the Vestal United Methodist Church, 328 Main St., Vestal. The Rev. Sebastian Prospero will officiate. Private burial will be in Vestal Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home, 765 Main St., Vestal on Wednesday from 5-7PM. God Bless you Dad and keep you in His care, you will be missed dearly.

SUCH A SHOCK, I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW BOB WAS ILL ....... MY LOVE, CARING GOES OUT TO HIS FAMILY..........

I CAME BACK TO ENDICOTT IN 2003, FOR MY CLASS REUNION. I WAS IN A STATE OF SHOCK AS I HAD JUST LOST MY BELOVED HUSBAND LAWRENCE BEACH. EVEN THO I WAS AN ENDICOTT GIRL, LAWRENCE AND I LIVED IN CASTLE GARDENS FOR 7 WONDERFUL YRS.
BOB HAD AN APPT THAT I COULD USE/ LEASE AND I SPENT ONE OF THE MOST MEMORIOBAL SUMMERS OF MY LIFE IN VESTAL/ENDICOTT.
HE TRIED TO DO ALL HE COULD DO TO HELP ME AND I WILL NEVER FORGET THAT SUMMER.
AM SO SO VERY GRIEVED TO HEAR OF BOB'S PASSING....... PASSING.
WORDS STILL DO NOT COME.............

Bobby was my cousin who lived next door to us in Landonia Park. When he was young he loved hunting and trapping. He had a gift for playing the piano by ear. He was interesting to be around. God bless his family and loved ones. Bruce Bailer

sorry to hear about the loss of Bob. Condolences to his relatives and friends. Bob's father was my mother's brother. At times we lived next door or close to Bob and Beverly. The Blakeney's took me to their Church in Binghamton while we lived in Raiford Manor in Vestal.

Bob and I were classmates of '53. We had many good times and continued to correspond throughout the years. It was only a few weeks ago we talked about his new project on the lake. He will be missed. Bless his children and their families. May he rest in peace.
