Robert Harris Obituary
Robert Alton Harris went to be with the Lord on the evening of June 27,2013. He passed unexpectedly in the comforts of his "home up on the hill" in Windsor, NY where he always wished to ascend from. He is predeceased by his parents Frank and Joan Harris and his beautiful grandson Seth Harris. He is survived by his dedicated and loving wife-Diane (Conklin) Harris; Son-Robert (Bunk) Harris with children: Jenny, Caleb, Trinity, Lily, and Levi; Daughter-Billie Sue (Harris) Sellers and spouse William Sellers Jr. with children: Brandon, Heather, Caitlyn, Noah, and Cali; Sister-Kathy and spouse David Hogeboom; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. This profound idol was noted for his superior motocross skills, he mentored many riders with pride and honor. He rode with confidence, he rode fast, and he took chances. His famous saying was "When in doubt, gas it out". He was always loyal to friends and family…in fact he would give the shirt off of his back to anyone in need. He loved his grandchildren the most and his faithful companion Nico, who remained by his side. He also enjoyed Harleys, flea markets, antiques, and heavy machinery that could move the earth. Husband, father, grandpa and friend…an idol, a legend, a true hero has been taken from this earth…We have all gained a guardian angel that can fly fast. Godspeed, Rest in Peace…you were a wonderful man to many…we will miss you so very much. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 11-12pm with a Funeral Service following at 12pm at the THOMAS J. SHEA FUNERAL HOME INC. 137 Robinson St., Binghamton, NY. Feel free to dress comfortable and casual, as Bob would…just bring your love and respect. In lieu of flowers you may send plants, trees or monetary donations to the Harris family.

You were a truly amazing man, uncle. The last time I saw you, you had left grandma Irene's place without saying hello to me and I called out to you before you began to leave the driveway. You gave me such a bright smile and blew me a kiss as you drove away. That's how I'll always remember you: leaving with a big smile that was as bright as the summer sun. :') Rest in peace, uncle Bobby. Give dad a kiss for me!

Sad to hear about this for sure, my deepest condolences to Bob's family.
Bob and Gary Chaplin came to New England when I was an aspiring young racer, Bob was so patient and willing to share it was hard to believe he could go out and race like a fearless gladiator and not be a "rough around the edges" type. Smooth and stylish Bob was an great role model and an inspiration.

Condolences to the Harris family for the passing of a great friend and fellow racer Bobby Harris. I haven't seen them since the winter of 1974 when we became close. I traveled with he and his family to the races for a while in the comfort of their motorhome. it was an experience that I will alway cherish.

Diane, Bobby Jo, Billie Sue & Kathy, Bobby is now resting peacefully in the arms of Jesus Christ our Lord. Can you imagine him being face to face with Christ? What a great day for him! Diane and family, so sorry for our loss. When I first met Bobby he was riding a Bultaco around (winning) that track in Groton on the rear wheel, the entire track! I became a bit of a puppy dog to your motorhome whenever we crossed paths at events, Ricky playing and singing around the campfire, Bobby and you all truly were so giving to welcome me in, thank you. This I believe was the foundation for my time racing motocross. I later was invited to the hill in Windsor to meet Frank, Joan and Gary Chaplin. Bobby and Gary took me riding and the "perpetual" wheelie continued in the hills above Windsor. Bobby "wheelied" his way into the hearts of many, I for one will never forget this kind and so skillfull man, thank you Bobby and family! Rest in peace Robert Harris
