Sowa, Arlene L. (Monroe)
Age 86, of Waverly formerly Elmira Heights passed away with her loving family at her side on Sunday, October 27, 2013. She is survived by loving children, Sandra (Michael) Berry, Binghamton, Mark (Lisa) Sowa, Ohio, Christine Sowa, Binghamton, Rose (Ken) Fleming, Buffalo, Richard (Deborah), Elmira Heights, Kevin (Lisa), Elmira Heights; four granddaughters, Amy (Greg) Fuhrman, Jennifer Berry, Ashley Salois, and Brittany Spencer; two great granddaughters, Kaley Berry and Sophia Spencer; sister Phylis Swartwood; sister in law, Rose Guerrero; several nieces, nephews and cousins . She was pre-deceased by parents, Lillian & Llewellyn Monroe; husband of 51 years, George, and granddaughter, Julie. Arlene was a member of Oakwood United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star. She was a resident of the Elderwood Nursing Home. She spent many wonderful hours there with her many friends going to bingo, playing cards and doing crafts. She also loved her trips to the casino. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Kalec Funeral Home, Thursday, October 31, from 5-8 p.m. with her funeral service there at 9 a.m. Friday, November 1. Graveside service and burial will follow at Bath National Cemetery. Arlene was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend and will be greatly missed by all.
