Christina R. Arcodia Mapes, 54, of Vestal, NY entered into the arms of her Lord on Wednesday, January 2, 2013. She was born and raised in Binghamton the daughter of Pasquale and Christine Arcodia. She is survived by her husband and love of her life, David W. Mapes; sons, Richard Laganiere and Christopher D. Laganiere; sisters, Amalia (Amy) Arcodia (Ignazio Cangemi) Capo D'OrLando, Sicily and Teresa Arcodia, Johnson City; David's sons, Chad (Michele) and granddaughter, Victoria Mapes, Endwell and Jason Mapes; nieces, Lisa Carter Eagan (Dave) and Marissa Carter; nephews, Gaetano Scionti and Patrick Carter (Domenica); several dear aunts, uncles and cousins. For over 34 years Christina owned and operated Pino's Ristorante serving superb Italian food in addition to raising her family. In 2004, Chris married her beloved husband, David W. Mapes, at a beautiful ceremony at Tioga Gardens, Owego. For several years Chris ran the St. James After-School Program where the children were enchanted by her understanding, warmth and energy. In addition she worked with David as Office Manager at Mapes Auctioneers & Appraisers. She had a beautiful voice, adventuresome spirit, athletic ability and natural Italian beauty. Although she left us tragically long before we expected, she is now at rest and safe in the arms of the Lord. In lieu of flowers, donations to one's favorite charity or a good deed for a needy person is encouraged. Funeral Services will be held at the J.F. Rice Funeral Home, Inc., 150 Main Street, Johnson City, MONDAY at 9 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. at St. James Church, Johnson City, where a Funeral Mass will be offered. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the funeral home SUNDAY from 2-5 p.m.
