Austin, Doris M. (Donahue)

Formerly of Port Dickinson & Chenango Bridge: Doris Marie (Donahue) Austin, 84 passed away peacefully Wednesday May 4, 2011 at Samaritan-Keep Home, Watertown, NY where she has resided since 2006. She was predeceased by her parents, Eva(Mayo) Donahue McNaney and Edward Donahue; brothers, Jack Donahue and his wife, Joyce and Robert Donahue; nephew, Kevin Donahue and half brothers, Philip and William McNaney. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Kenneth E. Austin-Clayton, NY; her daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and James Meara-Clayton, NY. Doris was especially close to her brother, Jack and his family, and is survived by nieces and nephews, JoAnne Hibbard and her husband, David with their children Gary Hibbard and Stacy Gehm, their grandchildren Mary and Stephen, William Donahue and his wife Elizabeth, and their children Megan and Ivy, Thomas Donahue and his wife Terri, and their children Eddie and Ericka, Rebecca Donahue, Craig Donahue; grandnieces, Tara and Carissa Donahue and their mother, Kathy Hamilton; sister-in-law, Barbara Donahue (Robert) and nephews, Michael and Brian; she is also survived by her half sisters and their families, Rosemary and Thomas Beshara, Bennington, VT, Gail and Arnold DuPrey, Mooers Forks, NY, Nancy and Richard Docteur, Cape Vincent, NY and Lakeland,FL. Doris enjoyed her old neighborhood on N. Moeller St. and had fond memories of her friends and neighbors there - The Hesses, Bucks, Baudendistels, Krupitzas, Stiners and many others.

She was a volunteer at Lourdes Hospital for 20 years. She was an active member of St. Francis of Assisi Church, Hillcrest, where she was a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Alter Rosary Society and the 50 plus Club. Doris and Ken moved to Clayton in 2005 to be near their daughter.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi Church at a later date, to be announced. Burial will be in Chenango Valley Cemetery. Those wishing may make memorial donations to the organization of their choice, or to the 8th Floor Residents Fund, Samaritan-Keep Nursing Home, 133 Pratt St. Watertown,NY 13601 in Doris' Memory.
