Fantuzzo (Maerkl), Elsie Helen
Elsie Helen Fantuzzo (Maerkl) of Endicott, NY, passed away on April 16, 2013; she was 84. Elsie lived her whole life in the Triple Cities and was a devoted mother and wife before starting her career as a professional seamstress at the age of 40. Elsie was a perfectionist when it came to her craft and she provided quality work to several local interior decorators and individuals for 35 years. Her work graced many homes locally, nationally and internationally. Elsie was the daughter of Josef and Helen Maerkl and she was one of nine children. Elsie always loved the Binghamton area and she was an incredibly supportive and caring mother and wife. Her children meant the world to her and she treated each one uniquely in supporting their dreams and desires. She was always happy to have people drop by the house and she usually had some of her fantastic homemade desserts ready to serve. Elsie was always encouraging to anyone she met and when she was shopping for bargains she would convince strangers that they would look great in that dress and this is a good price. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her. Elsie is survived by her son, John, Corpus Christi, TX; her daughter, Linda and son-in-law Ed Warmuth, Charleston, SC; and her son, Jim, Endicott. Elsie is also survived by her grandson Jeff; her granddaughters, Carleen Capaldo and Cheyenne Fantuzzo; and great-grandsons, Dominick and Dante Capaldo, all of Texas. Elsie's sister, Jane Webster lives in Endicott, her brother Joseph and sister-in-law Mary live in Endwell, her brother Dan and sister-in-law Alice live in Binghamton and her brother Richard lives in Houston, TX. Also several nieces and nephews live throughout the country. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam; her granddaughter, Autumn; her brothers, Norman, Mark and Norman II; and her sister Gloria Blakeslee. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 27 at 4:00 p.m. at the Leon Pucedo Funeral Home, Inc., 1905 Watson Blvd., Endicott. Burial will be in Riverhurst Cemetery.
