Giulio DeRitis of Binghamton, 87, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Susquehanna Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Fara Filiorum Petri, Abruzzi Italy to the late Antonio and Maria Teresa DeRitis. He was predeceased and will be joining his wife of 62 years Maria who recently died on December 31, 2013. He is survived by his loving daughters, Teresa (George) Schiff, Antoinette "Toni" (Chet) Gaska ; two grandchildren, David Gaska and fiancée Ashley Bice; Daniel (Dana) Gaska; one great grandson Salvatore Gaska; one sister Maria LaViola; a special cousin Tomasso Montefusco, several sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was a member of the St. Mary of the Assumption Church and a long standing member of the men's Abruzzese Social Club. He served in the Italian Army. Giulio was a master tailor in the Binghamton area of over 60 years. His family was his whole life and he loved spending time with them and his cat Lily. He loved telling stories of his younger days, the NY Yankees, watching soccer, working in the yard, and making wine. A special thanks to the staff of Lourdes Hospital and Susquehanna Nursing home. Visitation will be held on Tuesday 4 until 7 p.m. at the THOMAS J. SHEA FUNERAL HOME, INC. 137 Robinson St. Binghamton with the men's Abruzzese Social Club meeting at 6 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Mary's of the Assumption Church in Binghamton.
