Heather Shaw Obituary

Shaw, Heather M.

Heather M Shaw, 34 of Windsor was lifted on the wings of Angels from the wreckage of her car on March 18, 2013. She is survived by her mother and dad, Alicia and Dan Laris; her father Andrew Shaw; her grandparents Fred G Velez and Norma Whitmarsh; her brothers Dan Laris and Andre Shaw; her sister/cousin Serenia Bowman; Uncles: Fred and Robert; Aunties: Yulonda, Stephanie, Felicia, Laurie; Susie, Diane, Joan, Linnie and Amy. She also leaves with love; a very large extended family who loved her in return. She also leaves behind with love: many friends from Windsor School and LaSalle University where she attended school, and Broome Developmental Center where she worked. Heather was creative and kind with a wonderful sense of humor, style and grace that showed in everything she did. Heather recently wrote this but it applies to her so well:

Like all great people, you touched so many lives. You shaped the ideals and, beliefs of accepting minds and inspired love in the hearts of most. I will try to mourn your passing, Because as I look to the people who knew you and delve within myself l can still feel you with me. I will take comfort in having known you. I will find strength and love in the lessons you taught me. My memories of you will continually inspire and push me to be a better person. And when I start to cry I will try to remember that you are not gone, but simply waiting for the rest of us to reach enlightenment. Special Thanks to the Campville Emergency Squad and the staff of Wilson Hospital who valiantly tried to save Heather's life. Funeral Services will be held at the J.F. Rice Funeral Home, Inc, 150 Main Street, Johnson City Friday at 5PM. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday afternoon from 2PM until the time of the services. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make memorial contributions to the charity of their choice in Heather M. Shaw's memory.

Heather, it is in the quiet moments that I find my mind drifting back to thoughts of you. Our last day together is forever etched in my mind. At the time it seemed like just an ordinary day. We had breakfast together and had a heart to heart talk about different moments in our lives. When I dropped you off that day I had a sudden urge to call you back to my car give you a kiss and tell you that I loved you. I'm glad I acted on it. I love you and miss you terribly. Mom

Reflections of Heather brings back memories of such a colorful and creative person. But your mom is always thinking of you and loves you more than life itself. A very nice tribute from Elizabeth Edwards about remembering a life lived. And heaven is a lot more colorful and creative since they welcomed you. Thank you for your life you shared with us at BDC.

"If you know someone who has lost a child... and you are afraid to mention them because you think you might make them sad by reminding them that they died, they didn't forget they died. You're not reminding them. What you're reminding them of is that you remember that they lived. And that's a great great gift." Elizabeth Edwards.

It makes me happy when I hear someone else talk of you even though it may bring a tear. I love you Heather, Mom.

Alicia, Dan and family members; I had the pleasure of working with Heather just a little when she worked on 5D and 5C. She was a great worker with great ethics and she really dressed cool. And her eyes could melt a pound of cheese. Alicia, I don't know how hard it is to lose a child but my sister-n-law does and my heart hurts a lot for you. I had just seen Heather at Dave Brown's funeral and she sat right behind me with Brian Rios and the Rachael girl. And I saw her driving out the lot in her cruiser. She had a beautiful dress on. I will miss her spirit a lot. Thanks for raising such a beautiful human being and sharing her with the world. May you find peace and comfort during this difficult time.

Alicia and Dan and family members of Heather; I am very sorry of hearing of Heather's passing. I saw Heather just 23 hours before at the funeral for Dave Brown. She sat right behind us. For the small amount of time I seen her at BDC while i worked in Food Service, she was always very nice and I thought she always dressed cool. And she had the most beautiful eyes. Alicia, you raised a great daughter and her work ethic was absolutely fantastic. She will be missed by so many. Talking to Jim my golf buddy we shared a memory he had with Alicia and Heather when they went to Darien Lake to see Nickelback. May you find peace and comfort during this difficult time.

Fun and fiesty Those are the two words I would use to describe the Heather I knew in high school. We had some good times running Indoor track together. I called her "Coach Heather" because of her supportive ways for all of us. My heart goes out to her friends and family.

A loved one is a treasure of the heart, and to lose a loved one is like losing a piece of yourself. But the love that this person brought you did not leave, for the essence of the soul lingers. It cannot escape your heart, for it has been there forever. Cling to the memories and let them find their way to heal you. The love and laughter, the joy in the togetherness you shared, will make you strong. You'll come to realize that your time together, no matter how long, was meant to be, and that you were blessed to have such a precious gift of love in your life. Keep your heart beating with the love and memories, and trust in your faith to guide you through. Know that though life moves on, the beauty of love stays behind to surround and embrace you. Your loved one has left you that...to hold in your heart forever. You will be missed Miss Heather Shaw.

My heart goes out to Alicia and her Family. I would just like to say, my last memory of Heather was when I left Dave Brown's viewing. Heather was standing outside. I only had the chance to wave and see her smile!! (as she always did) She looked absolutely stunning! A strong, vibrant, vivacious young woman, as you all knew. I did not get the chance to say :( to Heather what I am about to say to each and everyone of you who work on the floor. I would like to take this moment to thank you all for being who you are and doing what you do. It takes special people to do this everyday.
May we all feel her presence.
