Julia A. Chaffee, 92, of Owego, left this world and was united with Paul, her sweetheart and beloved husband of 51 years, on Wednesday, August 24, 2011. Julia is survived by her treasured children: Sandra Chaffee, TX, Claudia Carlini, Endwell, Rachel and Paul Christoffel, FL, John and Ruth Chaffee, PA, daughter-in-law Mary Chaffee, Candor, her sister Jean Shively, FL, 19 cherished grandchildren, great and great, great grandchildren, her very special nieces and nephews who treasure many happy memories of times enjoyed at Aunt Julia and Uncle Paul's farm on Hollister Rd., and her very special friend, Ida Berg, who always stood by Julia's side.

Julia was born in Binghamton on Oct. 26, 1918 a daughter of the late Guy and Grace (Nichols) Fuller. In addition to her parents and husband, Julia was predeceased by her dear son Mark, brother Stanley and sisters, Florence, Grace, Marge, Betty, infant Adrian and son-in-law, Vincent Carlini. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Newark Valley; a devoted wife and mother; a gifted seamstress specializing in wedding gowns and formal wear, and a genealogist at the Tioga County Historical Society…a position she thoroughly relished. She never ceased to be in awe of a beautiful sunset. This very dear and gentle lady, will be greatly missed.

Mrs. Chaffee was a very kind lady who helped me with research more than once at the Tioga County Historical Society. Her knowledge of local history was amazing to me. She will be greatly missed. My sympathy is extended to her family in this time of loss.
