Lawrence "Bud" Henecy Obituary
Of Conklin: Lawrence S. "Bud" Henecy, 85, went to be with the Lord surrounded by his family on Monday, May 14, 2012 at Wilson Memorial Hospital. He is predeceased by his loving wife of 65 years Evelyn; his brother Bill; sisters Hazel and Julia; sister in law Jean; and three nephews Jerry, Dean and Mark. He is survived by his loving and devoted daughter and son in law Linda and Chuck Purdy, Hillcrest; three grandchildren, Michael (Ann) Purdy, Monica (Paul) Trisket and Michelle Purdy and fiancé Kevin Newkirk; four great-grandchildren, Mikey, Rachel, Madeline and Haley; sister in law Shirley Henecy, Myrtle Beach, SC; three nieces Lorie Fallon, Marlea (Randy)Kjos and Betty Jo (Kevin) Brady; two nephews, Bill Jr. (Priscilla) Henecy and John (Dana) Lorence. Bud was a member, custodian for over 40 yrs and two time "Man of the Year" of Fairview United Methodist Church, retired from Susquehanna Valley School District, member and Bingo Volunteer of the American Legion Post 1645, member of VFW 478 and the Binghamton Loyal Order of the Moose, dedicated volunteer for Broome County Senior Programs, Conklin Senior Club, East Side Senior Center, Broome County Office for the Aging's Senior Center Steering Committee and was honored in 2010 as Senior Volunteer of the Year for Broome County by Gov. Paterson. He was an avid Yankee's fan and enjoyed the senior bus trips to the Mohegan Sun. Bud was extremely conscientious, organized and dedicated, he was sure to greet people with a smile, he inspired others to do their best and he was always there for his family for anything they needed. He was a true hero to his family and the Broome County Community. A funeral service will be held 11am on Friday, May 18th at Fairview United Methodist Church, 252 Robinson St., Binghamton with Rev. Janet Clark officiating. Burial will be in Conklin Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4 to 7 pm at the THOMAS J. SHEA FUNERAL HOME, INC. 137 Robinson St. Binghamton and on Friday from 10am till the time of the service at the Fairview United Methodist Church. Friends wishing to may make memorial donations to Fairview United Methodist Church in memory of Lawrence "Bud" Henecy.
