Mysyk, Margie, 66

Oakland, CA, formerly of Endicott: Margie passed away at her home in Oakland Hills, CA, with family at her side on September 24, 2013. She was predeceased by her parents, Mike and Eva Mysyk, and her sister MaryEllen. Her husband, Robert Blanshard of Oakland, survives her, as do two sisters (Lucilla in NH and Patty in NY) and their families and many cousins. Margie was born in Amsterdam, NY, and lived in Broadalbin for ten years, then lived elsewhere in NY and CA until her death. She maintained friendships and contact with relatives in all locations. She was able to visit NY twice this summer before her fifteen-month pancreatic cancer slowed her. She was a 1965 graduate of Maine-Endwell and went on to graduate from University of Nevada Reno and University of California Berkeley. She retired from Kaiser Permanente as a Research Associate, where she excelled at interviewing, field work, and clinic management because of her unparalleled energy, organization, productivity, and quest for the facts. Margie loved adventure and had a passion for life, but she didn't fear cancer or death. Her love of the outdoors was shared with her husband, who she met at a bluegrass festival almost thirty years ago. Her greatest moments were attending music festivals and symphony concerts where her husband performed. She would be considered a free spirit, which culminated in her choice of these words for her memorial stone: "A Life Well Lived." Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
