Cola, Marion E.

August 30, 1926 - March 6, 2013

Binghamton: Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Marion Cola, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, March 6, 2013. She has joined her predeceased parents, Eunice (Fancher) and William Bernhardt. She is survived by the love of her life for 63 years, Nicholas Cola, whom she married on October 29, 1949. She is also survived by her beloved children: daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Mike Davis and son, Nick Cola and fiancée Antoinette Masciarelli. Holding a special place in her heart are her grandchildren, Jennifer (Davis-Primo), Justin (Mary Davis), and Nicole Davis, Stefanie (Mike Cardwell), Erin and Trevor Cola; great-grandchildren who affectionately call her "GiGi", Jacob and Kaleigh Premo and our newest addition, Finnley Cardwell; her caring family: brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Jane Bernhardt; special niece, Patrice (Bernhardt) McMurray; brother, David Bernhardt; sisters-in-law, Alice Bernhardt, Carol Bernhardt, Rose LeVonne; many nieces, nephews and extended family. She was also predeceased by 3 brothers, William, Douglas, and Joseph Bernhardt; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Nicholas (Rose) Cola; brothers-in-law, Joseph Cola and William LeVonne; sisters-in-law, Francis (Daniel) Gennett, Minnie ( Sebastian) Abbedessa, and LuLu Richmond. Marion attended North High School and was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church and St. Christopher's Roman Catholic Church. She worked for 35 years at IBM as a legal secretary in the Patten's Dept and retired in 1987. Marion loved to dance and travel with her beloved husband, Nick. They were members of the Cadance Dance Club for many years. She was also very talented in writing poems for her loved ones for special family occasions. She spent the happiest days of her life loving and supporting her children and grandchildren's many sports and activities. We will miss her smile, her sarcastic sense of humor, and her sparkling blue/green eyes. We were so blessed to have you in our lives for so many years - we will keep a candle in the window to remind us of your Angelic Hand Wave "Good-Bye". We will find comfort in knowing you are watching over us from a better place. Forever in our hearts - Until we meet again - Smiles from your loving family. Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass Saturday, 9:30 a.m., March 9, 2013 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 1031 Chenango Street, Hillcrest. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be at the James V. DeMarco & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango Street, Port Dickinson, NY Friday from 5 - 7 p.m. The family would like to extend a special Thank You to the staff at Fairview Good Shepherd Home for the love and care given to Marion during her illness and an affectionate thank you to her "Angel" caregiver.
