Binghamton: Robert A. Cady, 70, passed away peacefully at home Thursday, November 22, 2012. Bob was a veteran of the United States Army, proudly serving his country from 1959-1962. He served as the Past Commander of the American Legion Post #1227. He retired from NYSEG after 28 years of service. Bob was an active member of Saints John and Andrew RC Church where he volunteered many hours with the food pantry and assisted many funeral luncheons. Bob was also active in the Knights of Columbus, Council #206 and was affectionately known as "Bingo Bob". He was an avid New York Giants and New York Yankees fan.
He was predeceased by his parents, Milton and Nellie Cady; sisters, Jane Sternberg, Rita "Mickey" Briscoe, Dorothy Matinichio and Ruth Colgan and brother, James Cady. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Evelyn Gladd Cady; his sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy and Nathaly Cady, Sea Cliff, NY, Thomas and Daisy Cady, Binghamton and Robert and Karrie Cady, Binghamton; treasured grandchildren, Shaneen, Thomas, Kevin, and Kelly and great granddaughters, Hayle and Ayrabella. He leaves behind sisters and brother-in-law, Joy and Darryl Krewson, Johnson City and Linda and Alan Grannis, Kirkwood; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Nancy Cady, Port Crane, Dawn McGovern, Johnson City and Alice and Howard Mai, Binghamton and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 a.m., Monday, November 26, 2012, by the Reverend Monsignor Michael T. Meagher at Saints John and Andrew Roman Catholic, 1263 Vestal Avenue, Binghamton. Interment will follow services in Calvary Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m., Sunday, November 25, 2012 at the DeMunn Funeral Home, 36 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton.
