Owego: Robert William Boucher, 84, of Owego passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Robert Packer Hospital. Bob was born an only child on April 16, 1928 to William and Mildred Guertin Boucher of Pawtucket and Narragansett, RI. After he graduated from Pawtucket West High School in 1946, Bob entered the Army and served on Okinawa. He went on the GI Bill to the University of Rhode Island and graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in Physics in 1952. At URI he was the Vice President of the Flying Club and he loved to fly to Block Island. His first job after graduation was at the Naval Underwater Sound Laboratory in New London, CT. Bob dated Jacqueline Bibeault for three years and they loved dancing to big band music in Narragansett. They were married on June 2, 1952 and remained married for 59 1/2 years until her passing in January of 2012. His next and most fantastic job was with NACA (National Advisory Committee on Aeronautics), until the year it became NASA, at Langley Air Force Base in Hampton, VA, where he worked on designing aircraft with Christopher Craft. In Virginia they had two sons, Robert and John Boucher. They then moved to Red Hook, NY to work for IBM in Poughkeepsie, where their daughter Nancy was born. Next they moved on to Owego, NY in 1962 to begin work for IBM Federal Systems Division where he became a Senior Engineer. He retired in 1992. For many years he had the only motorcycle in the IBM parking lot. He loved antiques, particularly early American glass. Bob loved old movie musicals and big band orchestras. He loved skiing, sailing, and hunting. Bob was the loving husband of Jacqueline Bibeault Boucher, loving father of Robert Boucher, John Boucher, and Nancy (Hiroyuki) Miyauchi, loving grandfather of Emilie and Jeremy Miyauchi and Matthew Owen Boucher. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick's Church, 300 Main Street, Owego with Rev. William Moorby officiating with full military honors at the conclusion of the services. Burial will follow in Greensprings Cemetery in Newfield.
