Johnson City: William J. Burke, 71 of Johnson City, passed away Thursday March 7, 2013 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. He was predeceased by his parents, William Burke and Ann Myers; several aunts, uncles, cousins and his canine companion, "Sammy". He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Diana Burke; three wonderful daughters, Kris Burke, Kim (Henry) Tokos, Shana Burke; four grandchildren, Henry William, Anne, Gabrielle and Julianna Tokos; his sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Marv Mastrangelo; his nephew, Mark Mastrangelo; his niece, Lori Culligan. He was a retired employee of GE, Westover and a veteran of the US Air Force. Bill was born and raised in Johnson City, NY, growing up on CFJ Blvd. where he enjoyed the pool and ballpark. He graduated from Johnson City High School and then joined the US Air Force. After returning from overseas, he ended his Air Force career in Shreveport, LA where he met his wife. Together they returned to Johnson City to work and raise their family. Bill had a unique sense of humor and loved to laugh and make others laugh. He was a big Elvis fan and loved to watch Old Westerns. He also loved his newspapers, the New York Post, the Times and our local. Bill enjoyed meeting friends at the JC McDonalds for coffee and especially looked forward to his Tuesday and Friday visits with his brother-in-law, Marv. The family extends sincere thanks to the staff of Lourdes Hospital and Dr. Raj for their compassionate care. The family will receive friends at the Leon Pucedo Funeral Home, Inc.,1905 Watson Blvd, Endicott on Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
