Mary Frances Crandall, 98, originally from Johnson City, N.Y., passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2010 in Concord, N.C. She grew up on a farm near Whitney Point, N.Y. and continued to live in that area for many years. She began her professional career teaching in a one-room schoolhouse, and later earned a Masters Degree in Education and retired after many years with the Chenango Forks school district. Fran was a skilled quilter, crafter, gardener and farmer. Upon retirement, Fran continued sharing her expertise with others as a
sewing instructor at the Broome County Cooperative Extension. She has spent the past twenty years in Concord, N.C., where she was surrounded by her active and loving family.
Fran is predeceased by her husband, Mark Crandall, and survived by her son, Jamie Crandall; daughter, Ginny Crandall Amendum; daughter-in-law, Pat Crandall; son-­in-law, Jim Amendum; her four grandchildren (Steve, Carrie, Dominick and Lauren), their spouses and five great-grandchildren; and her beloved dog, Stitch.
A private memorial service was held in Charlotte, N.C. Donations in Fran's memory can be made to Thompson Child & Family Focus, 6800 St. Peter's Lane, Charlotte,
