DiRico, Alfonso

Alfonso DiRico, 87, of Binghamton, peacefully passed away Saturday, March 22, 2014. He was predeceased by his wife Anna Rosa, his mother Concettina, brother Rocco DiRico, father-in-law and mother-in-law Antonio and Antoinetta Masciarelli, brother-in-law Mario Masciarelli, sister-in-law Lillian Bryan and great nephew Mario D. Masciarelli. He is survived by his children Rocco DiRico, Tony and Ellen DiRico, Bruno and Luanne DiRico, Jeffrey and Tina Feinberg; eight grandchildren Stephanie, Anthony, Bianca, Brittany and Danny DiRico; Nicholas, Maxwell and Isabella Feinberg and his great grandson, Nolan Feinberg. Alfonso is also survived by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Armando and Amelina Masciarelli, sister-in-law Nicoletta Masciarelli, brother-in-law Alfred Bryan and also several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Alfonso, Anna Rosa and their two sons came to the U.S. from Casacanditella, Italy in 1955 and settled in Binghamton. He was a retired employee of Masciarelli Construction, a member of the Men's Abruzzee Social Club and St. Mary of the Assumption Church. Alfonso enjoyed making homemade wine, gardening, and going to the Abruzzee Club on Sunday. He also loved spending winters with his family and friends in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Alfonso most enjoyed when his grandchildren and extended family gathered to eat and drink.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, March 28, 2014, at 9:15 a.m. from the THOMAS J. SHEA FUNERAL HOME, INC. 137 Robinson Street, Binghamton, and 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Court and Fayette Street, Binghamton, where a Funeral Mass will be offered. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call the Thomas J. Shea Funeral Home on Thursday, March 27, from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. The men of the Abruzze Club will meet at 6p.m. on Thursday at the Funeral Home. Donations in Alfonso's memory may be made to St. Mary of the Assumption Church or Broome County Meals on Wheels. Arrangements are in the care of Albert J. DeMarco.
