Kenneth A. Cable Obituary
Cable, Kenneth A.

Vestal: 84, We are rejoicing that Ken entered his heavenly home Wednesday, March 26, 2014. He is survived by his loving wife Grace, of 65 years; 3 daughters and sons in laws, Deborah Ruport, Colorado Springs, CO, Cindy and Ken Barber, Vestal, Nancy and Howard Streby, Johnson City; grandchildren Chad Ruport, Blair and CJ Klaas, Todd and Lydia Ruport, Jocelyn and Scott Brown, Kyla and Ben DeBlock, Drew and Jeanne Barber; 10 great grandchildren. Ken was a TV and Radio salesman for 22 years in the area and then became the Executive Director of the Broome County Council of Churches for 15 years where he helped developed the CHOW program and many other outreach ministries. His last and most favorite endeavor was caretaker of the Barber Memorial Home, Inc. Ken was a former member of the Boulevard United Methodist Church and currently a member of the First Baptist Church of Johnson City. His two greatest joys in life were serving the Lord and loving his family. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10:30AM at the Barber Memorial Home, Inc. 428 Main St, Johnson City, with Rev. David Seaver officiating. Burial will be held in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-5PM at the Barber Memorial Home, Inc. Our hearts have been forever touched from the staff of the STAR Unit at the James G. Johnston Nursing Home. Their devoted care and love for Ken was a gift our family will always be thankful for. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the STAR Unit at the James G. Johnston Nursing Home, c/o United Methodist Homes, 286 Deyo Hill Rd, Johnson City, NY 13790, or the CHOW Program, c/o Broome County Council of Churches, 3 Otseningo St, Binghamton, New York, 13903.
