Dorothy A. Novak, 76, of Binghamton passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 28, 2014. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, John Novak; son, Kenneth Novak; five brothers and one sister-in-law; Karl Arnold, Richard Arnold, Robert Arnold, Ronald and Shirley Arnold, and David Arnold. She is survived by her four loving children; Jon Novak; Nancy Flanagan (Brian Tucker), Penny Goyette, Timothy Novak; nine grandchildren and their spouses who were the lights of her eyes; Christine (Darrick) Darling, Andrew Holbert, Brian (Laura) Flanagan, Christopher (Jessica) Goyette, Kenneth (Celeste) Scelei-Young, Amy Flanagan, Kevin Holbert, David Flanagan, Dustin Flanagan; four great grandchildren who she adored; Courtney, Lindsey, Trevor, Caleb; three brothers and two sisters-in-law; Gary (Debbie) Arnold, William (Carol) Arnold, Edward (Peg) Arnold; sister and brother-in-law; Patricia (Byron) White; three sisters-in-law; Lynn Arnold, Virginia Arnold, Nancy (Floyd) Bailey; brother-in-law and sister-in-law; Joseph and Gloria Novak; and numerous extended family members. Dorothy was one third of the "Golden Girls", a group of gals who were each other's best friends; predeceased is Gracie Cron and survived is Jeanne Lavalley. Dorothy loved Bingo, playing poker, gardening, crocheting, puzzles, and volunteering with a women's guild at the apartment complex she lived at. A Funeral Mass will be offered 10:00 AM Friday, May 2, 2014 at St. Vincent de Paul Blessed Sacrament Church, Vestal. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the J.F. Rice Funeral Home 150 Main Street Johnson City, NY, on Thursday, May 1, 2014 from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Dorothy's memory can be made to the , www.heart.org.
