Lee, Elwood L.

Newark Valley: Elwood L. Lee, 84, of Newark Valley, passed away at his home on May 29, 2014. He is survived by his daughters: Cynthia (Mark) Gregrow, Peggy (Harry) Andersen and Susan Morrison. Also surviving are his grandchildren: Adam (Veronica), Shane (Danielle) and Travis (Sara) Gregrow, April (Glenn) Klingle, Holly (Rob) Bahny, Lindsay (Alexander)Giabanis, Ian Phillips and fiancé Victoria Rupeka, Scott Allen and Bradley Allen; 12 great grandchildren, brother, Glenn Lee, several nieces, nephews and many friends including his dear friends: Laurie (Hanson) Arnold, Jim Taber, Robert and Julie Allen. Born in Dryden on Dec. 29, 1929, Elwood was a son of the late Oliver H. and Orpha L. (Fortney) Lee. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his dear wife Marion Lee in 1976, and sisters: Virginia Kobasa, Rosetta Jursick and Twila Hart. Elwood graduated from Newark Valley High School class of '47 and served 3 years in the US Air Force. He retired from IBM, Owego as a senior electrical engineer following 31 years of service. He was an avid reader and a skilled craftsman. His memberships included the Weltonville Fire Dept., Owego Elks and American Legion, Caroline Masonic Lodge, and the Caroline Horseshoe League. A Funeral Service and Celebration of Elwood's Life will be held at 11 am, Monday, June 2 at the MacPherson Funeral Home, 5 Whig St., Newark Valley. The Very Reverend Richard Schaal will officiate. Burial will be in the Quick Cemetery, Brooktondale where full Military Honors will be accorded.
