Ficarro, Viola "Vi"

Susquehanna, PA: Viola "Vi" (DiGuilio) Ficarro, 85, Susquehanna, PA, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 5, 2014, just two days before her birthday. Vi is predeceased by her loving husband, Joseph; her parents, Guido and Adelia; sisters, Susan Ippolito, Josephine Thomson, and Sylvia Ramos; and her brother, Angelo. Her spirit is carried on by her three children and their families: Joseph (Jay) and wife Jerri, Owego, NY, grandchildren Sarah, Jacob and wife Suzi and her great-grandchildren Aurora and Everleigh, Donna (Kieah) and CJ Burnett, Lansing, NY, Thomas (Tom) and wife Beth, Kennesaw, GA, grandchildren Samantha and Alexis, brothers Francis, Raymond, Hilary, Henry; sisters, Helen Gilson, Madeline Godino, Nancy Medina and Joann Peterson; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Vi worked at Mattis Manufacturing Inc., and then stayed home to care for her family. She was a lifelong member of St. John's Parish, its Altar and Rosary Society and prepared meals for several of the priests over the years. She was also an American Legion Post #86 Women's Auxiliary member helping out at their pancake breakfasts and other charitable events. She loved bingo, nights of playing cards with friends and family, and spending time with her family; especially visits from her grandchildren whom she was very proud of. Friends and family were always made welcome in her home and never left hungry. Famous for her homemade pasta and gnocchi, Vi was also an exceptional baker preparing trays and trays of her beloved Italian cookies at Christmas time. Vi's humor, sharp wit and desire for fun made her a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 8, 2014 from 3 to 6PM at the Hennessey's Funeral Home, 747 Jackson Avenue, Susquehanna, PA. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered on Monday, June 9, 2014 at 10AM at St. John's Church, Susquehanna, PA with Fr. Charles P. Connor and Fr. Cramer officiating. Burial will be in the St. John's Cemetery, Susquehanna, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Church in Vi's name.
