Karn, Mary Jane (Gialanella)

Mary Jane (Gialanella) Karn, 78, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones. She was predeceased by her mother and father, Rosa and Michael Gialanella; sister, Ida M. Gialanella; her brother, Frank Gialanella, Sr.; and her great niece, Lisa Newton. She is survived her son and caregiver, Donald C. Karn, Jr.; daughter, Rose (David) Hassett; grandson, Kirk Hassett; as well as many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her special friends, Barbara, Mary and Abby. A special thanks to Rev. Douglas Taylor for his presence and support at her bedside. Mary Jane will always be remembered as a woman of strength, courage and faithfulness to her family. Her children and grandchild were her life. Illness and her challenges in life never brought her down. She was determined to conquer these challenges and rise above them. Anyone who knew Mary Jane knew she loved her sweets, her soaps and the CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley. She will be greatly missed but her humor, beautiful smile and hearty laugh will never be forgotten. Our memories will never fade and her love will always be present in our hearts. We will be having a memorial celebration of her life that will be held on her birthday, July 24, 2014, at 6:30PM at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 183 Riverside Dr., Binghamton, NY 13905. ARRANGEMENTS ARE BY AEGIS CREMATION & FUNERAL SERVICES 196 CLINTON ST. BINGHAMTON, NY.
