Hall, Anita J.
Vestal: Anita J. Hall, 68, passed away at her home June 10, 2014. She was predeceased by her parents Jessie I. and Robert B. Fish. She is survived by her husband, Leon Hall of Vestal, her daughter and son-in-law, Ellen Hall and Carl Crown and grandchildren Benjamin and Charlotte Crown, all of Centreville, VA. Born January 11, 1946, she was raised on the southside of Binghamton, with frequent and nurturing visits to her aunt and cousins on their dairy farm, Lyon Farms, just across the border in Pennsylvania. She graduated from Binghamton North High School and earned her BA degree from SUNY Binghamton, including one year at SUNY Albany, at the same time she was earning all her college expenses working at Fowler's, Robintech and IBM. After marriage and the birth of her daughter, she was a stay-at-home mom. She served in a number of volunteer positions in her daughter's school, as a Sunday School Teacher at Vestal United Methodist Church and as a Girl Scout Leader. She enjoyed studying and discussing political events of the day and watching Lawrence Welk and BBC shows on WSKG, as well as volunteering for the Broome County Historical Society. The immediate family is deeply grateful for the help and support provided by Anita's cousin George Lyon during her recent period of illness.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am Saturday at the Vestal United Methodist Church, 328 Main St. Vestal. The family will greet friends at the church, Saturday from 9:30 am - 10:00 am. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Windsor. Memorials may be made to WSKG. Services provided by the Hopler & Eschbach Funeral Home, 483 Chenango St. Binghamton.
