Esworthy, John L.

John L. Esworthy, 80, Cape Canaveral, FL, passed away unexpectedly while staying with his family in Binghamton on June 17, 2014. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Pauline (Peg); his son, Shawn; his parents, Joseph W. and Elizabeth Shea; and siblings, Joseph (Marilyn), Francis (Helena), Mary Elizabeth (Thomas Ward Giblin) and Ann (Connie) Esworthy. He is survived by his son, Christopher; daughter-in-law, Lynn; and his two grandchildren, Christopher and Alexis, whom he loved more than anyone else in the world; and many nieces and nephews. He served in the Korean War as a Sergeant Medic and was employed by IBM for 34 years. His favorite job was being a father and grandfather and he especially loved spending summers with his grandchildren surfing at the beach in Florida where he lived for 13 years. He had many friends that he cherished. A memorial service will be held in Florida where he will be put to rest with his wife and son. He had a full and enjoyable life and lived each day to the fullest. Although he will be forever missed, his wise words of advice and many wonderful memories will always be remembered.
