Catlin, Arlene (Ward)

Owego: Arlene (Ward) Catlin, 86, peacefully passed away at home on July 20, 2014. She was born December 21, 1927, to Frank and Aloza (Perrine) Ayers. Arlene was predeceased by her parents and husband Francis E. Ward (1967); husband, Willis Catlin (1986); sons, Joseph P. Ward (1971), Mark (Bucky) Ward (2010); daughter, Jennifer Cron (2012); and her late companion, Richard Nichols (2010). She is survived by her beloved daughter, Marie Ward; brother, Floyd (Linda) Ayers (MN); daughters-in-law, Karen Ward, Andrea (Ed) Williams; grandchildren, Willie Leach, Michelle Ward, Joseph Ward, Mark Ward Jr., Janet (Jim) Wilson; Nicholas Cron; step-granddaughter, Jessica (Tim) Mihalov (PA); great-grandchildren, Olivia and Evan Ward, and Hannah Wilson; sisters-in-law, Jane Worthing, Margaret Ward (VA). She also has many very special cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. Arlene was an Owego Free Academy graduate, Class of 1945. She enjoyed entertaining at her kitchen table at home, as well as organizing the annual family reunions and other gatherings. Arlene retired from IBM Owego, was a member of VFW Post 1371 Ladies Auxiliary, the Antique Society of Broome County, and was a former Lioness. She was a lifelong resident of the Owego "Flats" neighborhood. Arlene was an extremely strong woman of conviction and she set a great example for her entire family. Her legacy will live on in all of us and she will be missed dearly by all of us who loved her. She is now reunited with family and friends who have gone before. Family and friends are invited to visit at Richards Funeral Home, Rte. 17c West, Owego, NY on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 from 5 PM to 8 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at Richards Funeral Home on Thursday July 24, 2014 11 AM with Pastor Lenny Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Tioga County Rural Ministries or the Owego Fire Dept. Emergency Squad. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the Lourdes Hospice nurses, Dr. Keith Nichols and all the health care ladies that helped us keep Arlene comfortable at home during the last weeks of her life.
