Afton: Mary Catherine (Schaeffer) Lockwood of Afton, NY age 75 born in Farmingdale, Long Island, NY, died on Tues. Aug. 5, 2014. Predeceased by her husband of 52 years Richard L Lockwood and parents Charles L & Mary C (Powers) Schaeffer and brothers Charles (Jan), Richard and Robert Schaeffer and great grandson Loren. Survived by her children Joel, Ricky (Sandy), Tim (Rebeca), Jeff, Jonathan (Cindy), Joshua (Beth) Lockwood and Mary (Randy) Niles. Also 15 grandchildren Luke, Brittany, Eric, Richie, Kaylea, David, Nathan, Alexis, Dakota, Reilly, Corey, Kelsie, Toby, Dixie and Wyatt. Also 3 great grandchildren Aiden, Logan and Quinn. Survived by her sister Nancy (Thomas) Letteer and her sisters in law Marge Schaeffer and Phylis Martin. Also predeceased by brothers in law John and Donald Lockwood and Sam Sickler. Survived by her brothers/sisters in law Edna Lockwood, Alice Lockwood, Dawn Sickler, Robert (Eleanor) Lockwood, Linda Herrick, Douglas (Millie) Lockwood and several nephews and nieces. Mary also had special friendships for many years with Diane Maher, Cindy Clements and Florence Kessel. Mary played standup bass in The Lockwood Family band for many years. Mary enjoyed working as a school bus driver for Afton School, a Real Estate agent for 7 years and owned a horse tack shop. She loved her horses and dog Shadow. She so enjoyed her many trips to The 1000 Islands while boating and shopping with her granddaughter Dixie. She liked light houses and the ocean. Most important was the joy that she experienced of sharing the Good News of God's Kingdom from the Bible with her family, friends and neighbors as one of Jehovah's Witnesses for over 50 years. She had complete faith in the resurrection and the restoration of the earth to a paradise (John 5:28,29; Revelation 21:3,4). She loved her God Jehovah with her whole heart and one of her favorite scriptures was Revelation 4:11. The family will receive friends on Saturday August 9, 2014 from 11-1 immediately followed by a memorial service at 1pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 184 Castle Creek Road, Binghamton.
