Ruth A. (Howard) Conrad (1929 - 2014)

Obituary

Conrad, Ruth A. (Howard)

Binghamton: When someone you love becomes a memory… the memory becomes a treasure. Our hearts were broken on August 9th, 2014 with the passing of our mother, Ruth Arlene (Howard) Conrad. She was the youngest daughter of Ray and Mary Howard of Castle Creek, NY, born October 28th, 1929. Ruth was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Donald, in 2006 and by her 7 brothers and sisters: Eva, Frank, Elwin, Paul, Pauline, Alice and Leola. She is survived by her children: James and Marsha Conrad and James and Julie Guditis; her cherished grandchildren: Michael and Chelsie Conrad, Mindi and Andrew Jacob, Gregory and Shannon Guditis and Thomas Guditis, and also her precious great-grandchildren: Tyler, Rylan, Alyssa, Drew, Kaitlyn and soon to be born, Natalie. She is also survived by her sister, Anna Lamb, and many dearly loved nieces, nephews and friends, each of whom held a special place in her heart. She graduated from Whitney Point Central Schools and retired from Binghamton General Hospital. She was a longtime member of the First Church of Christ and considered her loving friends there her second family. She was a lifelong learner and mastered many skills during her life: gardening, crocheting, baking delicious pies, masonry, carpentry, reupholstering furniture, quilting, sewing and making draperies for her home. She also became an accomplished artist in her later years and still had several projects yet to finish. Ruth was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need of her skills and talents. Above all, caring for her family was her priority, along with nurturing and raising her children and celebrating their achievements. She was always ready to chat with family or friends over a cup of coffee and sweets. We would like to thank all the kind and caring family and friends for their tender, loving care during this difficult time. She will be forever loved and missed.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 15th from 4-7 pm at Hopler & Eschbach Funeral Home, 483 Chenango Street, Binghamton. Funeral services, officiated by her Minister Nick Haner, will be held at the First Church of Christ, 1980 Upper Front Street, Binghamton, on Saturday, August 16th at 11 a.m. Burial will immediately follow at Kattelville Cemetery, Binghamton. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Ruth may be made to her church, the First Church of Christ. Please sign her online guestbook and share memories at www.HEFUNERAHOME.com
