Johnson City: 85, went home in the arms of Jesus his Lord and Savior with his loving family surrounding him. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank & Lena Carl; his father & mother in-law Fred and Lena Fortran; his granddaughter, Kristen Michele Carl; and his brothers, Raymond Carl, Robert Carl and Clifford Carl; and dear friend Rev. Dr. Godfrey Parker. Neal is survived by his wife of 63 years Wanda of Johnson City, NY., 4 children, 11 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; Neal's daughter JANET & Gorden Blakeney of Vestal, NY and family; daughter, Tracie Conklin and Kim Crawford of Conklin, NY; and daughter, Jennifer Crawford of Philadelphia, PA; son, Tom & Heather Conklin and sons Caleb, Jonah, & Aaron of Endwell, NY; daughter Beth Blakeney of Vestal, NY; and Jill Blakeney, of Vestal, NY. Neal's daughter WANITA & David Geer of Monroeton, PA and family; son Bradlee and Samantha Geer their son Wyatt of Granville Summit PA; son Kirtis Geer of Monroeton, PA. Neal's son MARTIN & Deborah Carl and daughter Jessica Carl of Johnson City, NY. Neal's son NEAL A. & Susan Carl of Endwell, NY and family; daughter, Aubrey & Blake Thrasher of Endicott, NY; daughter Sarah Jo Carl of Cazenovia, NY; daughter Mykayla Carl of Endwell, NY. He is also survived by his brother and sister in-law Roger and Sally Carl of Endwell, NY, very dear friends Dr. San and Cheung Hee Kim, and Evelyn Parker as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Neal was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who was always there to give a loving hug, share his insight and wisdom and help in any way he could from the smallest task to the greatest. He was involved in the lives of all his family and shared his faith in Jesus with them all. He was an active member and Deacon Emeritus of the Main Street Baptist Church serving on many boards including serving as Sunday School Superintendent and the Deacons Board, playing softball (once pitching a perfect game), singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School, he gave and served selflessly even getting up at 5am to prepare the food for the men's breakfasts. Neal retired from the Columbia Gas Co. and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. Neal sang with the Cleft Club singing in many musicals like South Pacific, and loved to write poetry. Neal served in the USAAF/USAF enlisting on Jan. 8, 1947, attaining the rank of Corporal in 11 months. He served in the 8th Air Force, 15th Air Force, the Air Force European Command in Germany during the Berlin Airlift Crises, and with the Strategic Air Command, earning many medals and ribbons. He was Honorably Discharged on Dec. 19, 1949 and was on IRR in the USAFR receiving an Honorable Discharge on Jan. 7, 1953. Neal will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him and he will be waiting in Heaven with open arms to greet all of his family as they join him there with his Lord and Savior Jesus. Funeral services will be lead by Neal and Wanda's beloved pastor and friend, Rev. Timothy Bennett on Friday, August 15th at 10:00am at the Main St. Baptist Church, 117 Main St., Binghamton. Burial will be held in Floral Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2:00-4:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm at the Barber Memorial Home, Inc., 428 Main St, Johnson City. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Main Street Baptist Church Memorial Fund.
