Wayne Montgomery, 54, passed on July 5th, 2010 unexpectedly at his home in Van Etten, NY. Wayne was born on January 24, 1956, in Buffalo, NY to Everett and Betty Montgomery. He grew up in Spencer and lived there the majority of his life. After graduating from Spencer-Van Etten High School, he went on to serve in the US Army. He was currently employed as Dean of Students for Spencer-Van Etten Elementary School. He was an advisor for the Caring Council, which promotes mutual respect and kindness within the school community. It was perhaps the cause that he was most passionate about in the final years of his life. Wayne was survived by his wife of 30 years, Laurie Montgomery; his son and daughter-in-law, Sean and Catherine Montgomery; and daughter and future son-in-law, Ashley Montgomery and Paul Mitchell; his mother, Betty White; his siblings, Sherry Baker, Danny Montgomery, Diane Hays, and LuAnn Montgomery; and his granddaughters, Magnolia Mitchell and Eliza Montgomery.
Calling Hours will be held on Friday, July 9th, 2010, from 2-4 p.m. followed by a service at Allen Manzer Funeral Home at 56 North Main Street in Spencer, NY.
