Edwin Dunbar Obituary

Dunbar, Edwin L.

Edwin L. Dunbar, Sr., of West Creek Rd., Newark Valley and formerly of Windham Twp., PA passed away Thursday morning, April 28th, 2011. Ed was born on October 26th, 1944 in Sayre PA, a son of the late Lewis and Rose (Corey) Dunbar. He proudly served his country with the US Navy. Ed was a long time employee of Harvard Manufacturing in Owego. Ed enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing in Pulaski and hunting. He is survived by his companion and caregiver, Lyda M. Jackson; his children, Eddie Dunbar, Brayen Dunbar, Teri Lyn Moe, Michael Dunbar, Lewis Dunbar; step-children, Cindy Thetga, Teresa Hongach, Douglas Miller; Lyda's extended family; his brothers, William (Nancy) Dunbar, Teddy (Judy) Dunbar, Chuck (Penny) Dunbar, Mike (Becky) Dunbar; a sister, Sandy (James) Russell; his first wife, Genevieve Dunbar; twenty-one grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and their families also survive. Ed was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis O. Evans Miller Dunbar, and granddaughter, Amber O. Miller. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service and celebration of Ed's life on Saturday, May 7th, 2011 at 10 am at the West Warren Congregational Church, with Pastor David Pitcher officiating. I didn't personally know Mr. Dunbar, but know Lyda. She has been a good neighbor for many years now. I worked with Cindy Thetga many years ago also. So sorry to both of you and your family's for your loss.

We were so sorry to hear that God decided to take Ed after all the struggles he had been through. He was a pleasure to work with. He always had a smile on his face. He will surely be missed by many. Our hearts go out to Lyda as well as the rest of his loved ones.

Lyda and the family,

To all of the family. Ed will truly be missed. He was a very nice man. I enjoyed working with him over all of these years. I too enjoyed the fudge.
