Kniskern, Gerald L.

Johnson City: 84, died on Sunday December 2, 2012 at the Woodland Manor, Vestal. He was predeceased by his parents Raymond and Vida. He is survived by his very special love Ann M. Cobb of Binghamton: son Michael and "Arthur" Miller of Norfolk, Va; daughter and son in law Denise and Lester Daughtridge of Inwood, WV; and their mother Eleanor (Brigham) Kniskern of Norfolk, Va.: sisters and brother in law Beverly and Joe Perrucci of Apalachin, Joyce Jones of Fort Worth, TX; grandchildren Trevor and Talia Shade; great grandchildren Trent Shade and Makenzie Stout; also several nieces, nephews and many cousins and friends. He graduated from NYS University (Syracuse College of Forestry), a Veteran of WWII serving in the Navy; he was a Park Ranger at Chenango Valley State Park and retired after 30 years as a Cartographer for the U.S. Dept. of Defense. A member of the society of American Military Engineers, the American Forestry Assoc, charter member of the Association of Mapping Seniors, lifelong member of the Boulevard United Methodist Church, and the Thomas Jefferson School "Breakfast Bunch". He was an avid private pilot and was the past president of the Gaithersburg Jaycees and received the Outstanding Young Man and Community Service Awards. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday at 1pm at the Boulevard United Methodist Church 113 Grand Boulevard Binghamton. The Rev. Joyce Allen will officiate. Burial will be in Lacey Street Cemetery, Laceyville PA at the family's convenience. Donations in his memory may be made to the Memorial Fund of the Boulevard United Methodist Church.
