Toomey, William J.
William (Bill) Joseph Toomey, Jr., age 70, of Statesville, NC, formerly of Binghamton passed away December 24, 2012 at W.G. (Bill) Hefner VA Medical Center, Salisbury. Born August 12, 1942 in Binghamton, NY, to the late William J. Toomey, Sr. and the former Ruth Esther Tanner, he graduated from North High School in 1961 and then joined the U.S. Navy. Following military service he worked as a maître d at Little Venice Restaurant where he met his beloved wife, Marian, with whom he shared 44 years of marriage. He worked and managed in the hospitality, trucking and post NC relocation, real estate industry, before retiring. True to his Irish roots Bill had a sharp sense of humor that was appreciated by those who knew and loved him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marian Darrow Toomey; stepfather, Edward G.Sedleck; and half-brother,Bruce E. Sedleck. Bill is survived by his children; stepdaughters, Debra (Jade) Brewer, Montrose, PA, Cindy Tiffany Picarella, and daughter, Pamela (Kevin) McCall, Statesville, NC; sister-in-law, Esther Darrow, of Hallstead, PA; half-brother, Brian (Lynda) Sedleck, Alexis, NC; grandchildren Mandy, Jim, Sean, Alex, Ashley (Nathan) and Joey.

Service: Graveside and interment with military honors January 2, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the National Veterans Cemetery in Salisbury, NC.
