Clara Euker Obituary
Euker, Clara

Harpursville: Clara Wilcox Euker, born November 30, 1917, in Bainbridge, NY, to Bertha and Albert Wilcox, died on Wed. January 9, 2013. Her husband Bob and her brother Clinton predeceased her. A graduate of Bainbridge Central School, Clara majored at Syracuse University in home economics, which upon graduation she taught at Harpursville Central School for 17 years, retiring in 1975. There she met her husband, Robert (Bob) Euker, whom she married in 1943. She also did graduate work at Syracuse, SUNY Plattsburgh, and SUNY Oneonta. Clara and Bob lived in Harpursville for 52 years until they moved to The Highlands, part of United Methodist Homes in Johnson City. After Bob died in 2006, Clara moved to Hilltop Assisted Living, where she received exceptional care and love. Clara attended church services at Sarah Jane Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church in Johnson City these past several years. For over 70 years Clara was a devoted member of Harpursville United Methodist Church, where she was especially active in United Methodist Women. She was also an active member of the DAR and the local Retired Teachers' Association and for many years distributed Meals on Wheels. She had a passion for sewing, preparing home-cooked meals for family and friends, listening to organ and choir music, teaching 4-H, pickling, and raising magnificent flowers. But at the top of her list was her family: her three children, Linda, Jean, and Barb; their husbands Mark, Scott, and Gary; and her five grandchildren, Carrie, John, Katherine, Jenny, and Kristy, all of whom survive her.

Memorial Services will be held at the Harpursville United Methodist Church 3500 NY Rte. 79 on Sat. Feb. 2, 2013 at 11 a.m. Pastor Sue Shields will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Bainbridge at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to Harpursville United Methodist Church Memorial Fund POB 23 Harpursville, NY 13787. On-line condolences may be made at:
